East Bali Destination

East Bali area (Karangasem Regency) named as the hidden Diamond with its virgin natural environment because this area hide many interesting place and unique culture life surround it. The people life into simplicity and honestly much of them are work as farmer, and the famous place in Karangasem which knowing discipline for its tradition named Tenganan Vilage. Many places in this area considered as hadn't been touch by modernization.

In this area, all the tradition existences of the human being are harmoniously with the God, human and environment as according to Tri Hita Karana concept. Mostly all Tourism Destination of East Bali area remains to draw during the time, goodness as tourism cultural object, tourism nature and agriculture tourism.

East Bali

East Bali area is a wide range of what is known as Bali's most traditional area. The tourism destinations mostly can be reached from Denpasar International Airport by car through a new highway (By Pass Denpasar - Kusamba) that has shorten the distance where it used to take around 1,5-hour, recently can be reached in just 45 to 60 minutes (Manggis & Candi Dasa). Along the way from or to the Airport we will see a stunning panorama of East Bali with its hills and rice fields that arranged beautifully. Compare to other direction, the destination to East Bali area especially Manggis, seems to be out of traffic jam and the car can run smoothly while the guests easily can enjoy the sea-shore view of South and East Bali area.

As one of tourist destinations in Bali, East Bali area has so many potentials to support the development of its tourism industry. Its rich nature with mountains, hills, rivers, lush rice fields and lovely beaches abound with the unique daily life of the people and their culture make this area worth to visit.

Candidasa Beach

Candidasa is located at Samuh - Bugbug village, Karangasem district. It is about 65 km from Denpasar, is well known for its shiny white sand. Tourism industry flourishes significantly in this area that background by the Indonesian Ocean. From this place, we will see Lombok Island and Nusa Penida in a distance and the sparkling light of "Jukung" or Candidasa traditional boat at night that will always draw us to come again.






Tulamben Tulamben Village beside of the beauty of its surroundings, the fascinating view of Mount Agung on the west side and the stunning panorama of its costal area this beach town mostly well-known by its magnificent diving site. The major diving site is the wreck of US Liberty ship from the World War II with its beautiful tropical fish and other marine lives







Taman Ujung Karangasem Taman Soekasada Ujung (Ujung Water Palace) lies at Tumbu village, approximately 85 km from Airport Denpasar. The water palace was built in 1919 and constructed by the late King of Karangasem, I Gusti Bagus Jelantik, that reigned in Karangasem between 1909 and 1945. Ujung Water Palace was majestically built to welcome and to serve important guests and Kings from neighboring countries, besides for the pleasure of the King and his royal family. The complex of this water palace with combination of Balinese and European architectures, has been announced to be a cultural tourist object for it is noted as one of several cultural heritages exist in Karangasem regency.




Besakih Temple Besakih Temple located at Besakih village, Rendang district, on the south west of Mount Agung about 62 kms from Denpasar. Besakih Temple is one of tourist objects which has its own uniqueness compared with other places. It becomes famous because of complex of temple established here, also known as the Mother Temple in Bali. Besakih which offers religious atmosphere was built based on the four directions.






Putung View Putung Village is located in Duda Timur village, Selat district, approximately 64 km from Denpasar. This place famous as a tourist object is its wonderful and amazing pristine panorama, which is the combination of mountains and sea view in a distance. Putung lies on mountainous area that surrounded by dense trees, particularly "Salak" or snake skin fruit garden. This makes the air in this area is very cool and refreshing.






Tenganan Villange Tenganan is one of several ancient villages in Bali, which is usually called "Bali Aga". Tenganan Village is situated at Manggis district, approximately 65 km from Denpasar. As an ancient traditional village, Tenganan is identical with religious activities. Many temple festivals performed in this village that attract visitors to come. The most famous one is "Mekare-kare" or "Perang Pandan". Beside of its unique custom and tradition, this village also recognized with their traditional woven product that can only be found in Tenganan, call Tenun Pegeringsingan.






Tirtagangga Tirtagangga royal watergarden is composed mainly by water, plants and sculptures. It is situated in the middle of rice fields around the natural springs of Rejasa, in Ababi village, Abang District, about 83 km from Denpasar. Tirtagangga water garden was built in 1948 by the King of Karangasem, Anak Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem. This water garden was constructed in a very unique architecture of Balinese and Chinese styles.






Padangbai Harbor Padangbai is a harbour where small and big ships drop their anchors. This area develops as a tourist object for some attractions it has, such as white sand, the beautiful surroundings and the amazing underwater panorama. Besides, the daily life of the traditional fishermen and the busy crowd in the harbour becomes another plus point of this area. This tourist object is also known for its sacred temples, Silayukti temple and Tanjung Sari temple. Silayukti was built by Empu Kuturan dated back to the 11 century.
